5 Questions with Cupid
By Sarah Harteis
Valentine’s Day is a day of flowers, candy, cards, and, of course, the famous Cupid. Cupid has been a part of Valentine’s Day for a long time, bringing love to those he feels make a good match. Town&Gown allowed the armed angel to explain a few things to us.
T&G: Why are you always shooting people with arrows? Isn’t there a less violent way to initiate love?
Cupid: Come on now! If you can’t handle a cute little arrow to the behind, how are you possibly going to deal with the emotional roller coaster that comes with relationships? If love was easy, I’d shoot you with a Nerf gun.
T&G: Does your matchmaking come with a 100 percent guarantee?
Cupid: Or your money back! Although I should say half of your money back. The rest will be going to your ex as alimony.
T&G: Does your revealing outfit make you feel uncomfortable in social settings?
Cupid: I’m pretty comfortable with my body, so I don’t see the need to change anything about my outfit. You don’t see the Nittany Lion wearing any pants, and no one seems to mind that.
T&G: How do you feel about e-harmony and match.com stealing your title as king matchmaker?
Cupid: Oh, I think social networking is a great idea! They’ve actually hired me as a part-time consultant to fine-tune their matchmaking selection process.
T&G: We know what you’re doing on Valentine’s Day, but what do you do for the other 364 days of the year?
Cupid: Matchmaking is a full-time job that doesn’t end after February 14. You just never know when love’s going to sneak up behind you and shoot you in the butt.
