Top 5 Things to Check Out in 2012

By Sarah Harteis

It’s that time again when resolutions are made, goals are written down, and people are looking for a fresh start to a new year. In 2012, one resolution to aim for could be simply to take a look around and explore some new things that the year has to offer. From books and movies to business and personal creativity, I have compiled my list of top 5 things to take a look at in 2012. Hopefully something on my list will at least spark your interest. I encourage you to do some research and see what all is out there just waiting to be discovered.

Top Book
Private: #1 Suspect by James Patterson
At the top of the pre-sales list, James Patterson has done it again, only this time with more action, intrigue and twists than ever before. Since former Marine helicopter pilot Jack Morgan started Private, it has become one of the world’s most powerful investigation firms, sought out by the rich and famous to discretely handle their most sensitive problems. When a former lover is found murdered in Jack’s bed, he is instantly the number one suspect. While the police are investigating Jack, the mob strong-arms him into recovering $30 million in stolen pharmaceuticals, and the beautiful manager of a luxury hotel chain persuades him to quietly investigate a spree of murders occurring on their properties. Fighting for his life on both sides of the law, Jack realizes that he may not be able to save himself this time. Grab your copy on January 2 and enjoy the work of James Patterson at his best.

Top Movie
The Dark Knight Rises
Head out to the local movie theatre this year to see the film that’s estimated to bring in $250,000,000 to the box offices – The Dark Knight Rises. Eight years after the events of The Dark Knight, the terrorist leader Bane arrives in Gotham City, pushing it and its police force to their limits, forcing its former hero, Batman, to resurface after taking the fall for Harvey Dent’s crimes. The must-see film hits theatres this year on July 20.

Top DVD
Courageous
On January 17, 2012, a movie called Courageous will become available to rent on DVD. This movie, unlike most movies out there, is unique in the sense that its focus is on having character and becoming a person of true integrity. The storyline features four police officers who are put to the test of showing their true character and faith in God through a sudden and unexpected tragedy. Facing many challenges at work and at home, these men must make difficult choices that ultimately define their lives and who they are as men. If you’re looking to watch a truly inspiring and captivating family-friendly film this year, make Courageous your first choice.
